Good Sleep – Good Health Jun 30, 10

Not everyone seeking a sound sleep is lucky. Some people pass out before they lay their heads on the pillow; others need a pill to finally lapse into deep and peaceful sleep. Hearing the word 'insomnia' makes you shudder. Lack of a restful sleep can result in nervousness and poor performance on the following day. Dull prospect, isn't it? So, what's the reason for poor sleep or total absence of sleep? There are many possibilities, the least serious of which may include an uncomfortable bed, noisy neighbours or even a sensitivity to weather changes.

Insomnia is manifested in difficulty falling asleep, frequent waking during the night, or total absence of sleep. Some of the more serious causes of insomnia may be a disturbed mental state due to stress, depression or even mental disorders. Insomnia can also be caused by severe fatigue due to chronic mental overload. Insomnia can result in daytime drowsiness, lack of sleep at night, and weakness and tiredness even after minor physical work.

Today, one of every five people suffers from some form of insomnia, and that number is increasing. Many people consider it a serious problem since it increases the risk of illness, including diabetes. Some individuals try to beat it with sedatives, but these drugs have side effects and should not be used for an extended period.

Some commonly used and effective ways to treat insomnia are as follows:
1) Do not eat within 3 hours of going to bed.
2) Do not consume any tea, coffee or spirits after 6:00 p.m.
3) Replace your pillow or mattress if you are experiencing discomfort.
4) Air your room before turning in.
5) Exercise at least twice a weak. Regular physical exercise provides the body with an increased supply of oxygen due to increased blood flow and helps to detoxify the body.

If you don't have time for the gym, a great alternative is the vibration training machine.
About 15 to 20 minutes spent on a training machine each day, such as the Bodywave Professional or Vibra Pro 5500, will boost you capacity for work and help you battle fatigue and stress. Vibration training will contribute to better blood flow to the organs, will train your muscular and cardiovascular systems and assist in the reduction of body fat.

Vibra Pro 5500 will improve your metabolism, hormone production and the general functioning of the central nervous system. As with all exercise, you should not use the machines within 2-3 hours of bedtime. Correct and timely use will produce a relaxing and soothing effect, promoting a restful sleep which will result in improved daytime performance.

Choose a vibration machine and have a good night!
